What is Cascade Cobbler?
In the foothills of the North Cascades of Washington, Cascade Cobbler is a family run operation that repairs climbing shoes and Birkenstocks for folks in the Seattle, Bellingham, Spokane areas as well as all regions of the Pacific Northwest and United States.
What can Cascade Cobbler do for me?
We offer a top quality shoe resole, quick turn around time, competitive pricing and rock shoe repair by a climber who knows the importance of a well-soled shoe. Our cobbler has been at it since 1994 and has repaired thousands of shoes.
Why do you do it?
We take pride in our work and repair every shoe as if it was our own. We strive to make shoe resoling an affordable way to keep reusing your shoes. We welcome feedback on each shoe we repair and constantly strive to improve techniques, while staying up on the latest in climbing shoe rubber and glue improvements.
Why should I resole my shoes?
Money: Resoling shoes is a cost effective way to keep your otherwise great shoes working for you.
Comfort: It takes time to break in a pair of climbing shoes and to get it molded to your foot. Resoling shoes preserves that fit!
What kind of service do I need for my shoes?
Typically, most climbing shoes that need to be repaired have a hole or rip in the front, known as the rand. Sometimes shoes don't have a hole or tear in the front and only the front half of the sole needs to be replaced. This is called a half sole repair. It is rare that shoes need a full sole replacement. A full sole replacement is needed only when the rear part of shoes becomes severely worn out or if you want it done!
What is the rand?
It is the rubber material that wraps the toe and heel area of the climbing shoes and adheres to the sole. Unfortunately we can't replace only the rand.
What if I'm not sure which rubber or service my shoes need?
Send us your shoes for us to look at it and our cobbler will give his assessment. You can pay for the rand repair if you think you need it, and we'll refund the money if you don't
What is your turnaround time?
All orders will be completed and shipped within 5 business days of receiving them. If you need to rush your order, send us an e-mail so we can let you know if we can accommodate your need!
How should I ship my shoes to you?
We have found the good old U.S. mail to be very reliable and cheaper than others.
How do I pay?
We accept only personal checks or money orders. Please include payment with the order form and your shoes.
How can I keep my shoes in great shape?
- Keep your shoes away from heat sources, especially leaving them in the car. This can cause the rubber to delaminate. Keeping them out of sunlight when you're not climbing also helps. Remember, UV rays degrade the rubber!
- Get them resoled before they have holes! We recommended that shoes be resoled when three-quarters of the rubber is worn through. This allows for a cheaper repair and also helps to keep the integrity of the shoe complete if the mid sole is not rubbed or damaged.
- Don't walk very much in them. We recommend that you take rock shoes off between climbs.
- After you climb, allow your shoes to dry. This helps to reduce bacteria from building up in the shoe and helps keep the shoe from wearing down.
